Ibiza's Passion For Health
We took a short trip to Ibiza a couple of weeks ago to soak up some sun and see the sites. Neither of us knew much about Ibiza before going and were excited to explore the Islands and to find out more about the health and wellness scene out there.
We stayed in San Jose, a beautifully quiet and charming traditional village West of the Island. The town was packed full of independent boutiques and restaurants and happened to be home to one of the healthiest and most forward thinking cafe and juice bars on the Island, Passion!
The founder of Passion is Croatian born Lana Love (coolest name ever!). We were intrigued to find out that she moved from Croatia to London with the dream of attending a drama college there. The fees were so expensive she decided to start up her own business to fund the course. However, she found her calling in the health and wellness world and was the first to introduce Ibiza to quinoa, green juice, acai, hummus, bullet proof coffee, kombucha, maca smoothie bowls...the list goes on! Lana sounds like an absolutely incredible woman who was at the fore front of the health industry long before it become what it is today. Lana laughs at how her employees wore t-shirts with the word HEALTHY on them back when nobody really had any interest in the industy. Now people are queuing up to buy these t-shirts, which goes to show how hard Lana has worked to build her brand and how far the health industry has come.
Passion is now celebrating it's 15th year and is growing from strength to strength. There are six premises dotted around Ibiza, the favourite being San Jose. The layout and deco of this cafe is beautiful! Inspired and reminiscent of the Ibizan colors (turquoise, terracotta, brown, white) it's the perfect place to hang out, eat some incredible plant based food and bask in the sun on the terrace. Lana has even opened a Passion Pantry which is a bio organic shop filled with organic tea, milk, superfoods, snacks and some essentials for a healthy holiday. It really is a dream!
Needless to say, we absolutely loved Passion! We loved it so much that we ate in there almost everyday. After finding out they had more than one premises, we then drove to another one of their locations down the marina where the menu was filled with things like iced avocado latte's and peanut butter and strawberry jam vegan pancakes!
We absolutely can't wait to book our flight back to Ibiza and go back to San Jose to dine in Passion again. If you want to check out more about Lana and Passion she has a fantastic blog which can be found here.
