The Power of Pai
It’s unbelievable how many skincare brands out there ‘green wash’. Green washing is a term used to describe brands that mislead consumers into thinking that the products they sell are ‘natural’ and ‘green’. Did you know that a cosmetic brand can claim to be organic even if the products they sell contains less than 0.01% organic ingredients?! Unfortunately unlike food there is no legislation that makes it compulsory for cosmetics to be certified organic. Therefore the word organic can be thrown around by brands!
We’re both huge fans of Green Beauty Team founded by make-up artist extraordinaire Kristen Arnett. Kristen has worked in the beauty industry for over 15 years and uses her website to share the most up to date and researched information on non toxic and sustainable beauty brands.
Kristen has also used this platform to reveal brands that green wash. It's shocking how many famous well known 'natural' skincare brands are on this list. Kristen admits that since outing these companies her site has been maliciously attacked. Her dedication to the cause is inspiring and proves just how devoted she is to protecting consumers and changing the current state of the cosmetic industry.
Thanks to blogs like Kristen's we are able to find out a lot more about what goes on behind the scenes in the skincare industry. Your skin is your largest organ and absorbs what ever you put on it! People deserve to know the truth about what they're applying on their skin, especially if they're being lead to believe that the products they're buying are natural, cruelty free and green when in actual fact they're not.
The Green Beauty Team's blog has opened our eyes and helped us gain the knowledge we need to buy truly natural skincare products. We now feel confident about identifying which ingredients are toxic and should be avoided at all cost and which are safe (we'll be dedicating a blog post to this subject soon!)
There's a lot to learn and it can be overwhelming...and expensive! That's why we have decided to introduce you to one brand in particular that we're really excited about and trust wholeheartedly, Pai Skin Care! There are so many reasons why we love Pai but a few obvious ones are they're certified vegan and organic! Yes, CERTIFIED vegan AND organic!!
Pai specialise in sensitive skin and we've both suffered with blemish prone and oily skin in the past. Trying to find a brand that ticks all the right boxes as far as ethics, sustainability and affordability is hard. Trying to find a brand that includes all of the above and actually works is even harder. That's why when we discovered Pai we were pretty ecstatic! There's an extensive list of ingredients that Pai avoid, which you can see here on their site. Their ingredients are also certified by the Organic Soil Association and are not only cruelty free but vegan too. All their packaging are recyclable too!
We've both been using Pai products for around two years and have been over the moon with the results. Pai tailor their products to match your skin's concern. They're especially great for sensitive and blemish prone skin and offer a different kind of cleanser, toner and moisturiser that's specific to your needs. Both of us have similar combination to oily skin and find the following products to be the best ones to match our needs (and who better to describe the products than Pai themselves);

You might have noticed we included the rosehip oil as one of the prizes for the Eat Sleep Organic website launch giveaway on Instagram. The reason we chose the rosehip oil was because we're obsessed with it! We've used it religiously over the past two years and absolutely love the way it leaves our skin looking and feeling fresh and beautiful. We apply it in the evening after we cleanse and tone (using the above). Rather than apply a moisturiser we apply three drops of the rosehip oil onto our skin and let it sink in overnight. In the morning our skin feels clear, healthy and brighter.
We couldn't end the post without mentioning our love for their copaiba & zinc perfect balance blemish serum which can be applied in the evening as an alternative to the rosehip oil. This product is suited for those with blemish prone skin and should be used around three times a week in the evening after you cleanse and tone. The Copaiba Deep Cleanse AHA Mask is another amazing product for blemish prone skin that works so well.
We look forward to sharing more beauty tips with you soon!
