The Spiritual Gym

You may have heard us mention Jen Sincero and her awesome book 'You are a Badass at Making Money'.  The title says it all! It's an inspiring life changing guide that encourages you to take risks to make your money making dreams come true.  In her book Jen talks about the spiritual gym and how attending this gym everyday will bring you closer to your life goals and further away from the fears that consume you.  She shares how important it is to upgrade not so good habits for better ones and explains that the most effective way of doing that is to show up to the spiritual gym everyday, even if it’s just for 5 minutes!

So you're probably wondering what on earth is the spiritual gym and why should we be visiting it daily?

The spiritual gym is simply an activity, routine or ritual that helps you access your higher self, your wellness warrior, your inner badass! It will keep your frequency high, your mindset focused and your faith in yourself, humanity and the universe strong! Sounds pretty incredible right?  Which is why we should all be making the effort to clock in to this incredible gym (where the membership is free btw!!) at least once a day.

What exercises you decide to do at the spiritual gym is completely up to you and what works for one might not work for the other.  That's why we've listed a few different exercises for you try and see which one resonates with you the most; 

Meditation

Meditation is something that’s becoming increasingly popular and we're hearing more and more people talking about it's wonderful benefits.  Closing your eyes, sitting comfortably with your palms face up and concentrating on the breath is a pretty powerful practice and an excellent way to visit the spiritual gym first thing in the morning.  From personal experience we feel that it calms our busy minds and encourages us to adopt feelings of love and gratitude.  If you're new to meditating or are curious to find out more, we both highly recommend Sandy Newbigging's book 'Mind Calm'.  Sandy's ability to describe meditating in a simple way made it accessible for us to master meditating at home in no time.

Yoga

Yoga is one of Ceri's favourite ways to tap into the spiritual gym.  It's an amazing way to connect with your body and really listen to what it needs and how it's feeling.  It's such an effective practice with a long list of incredible benefits!  Ceri loves to do a half hour session in the morning followed by ten minutes of breathing.  Yoga allows the mind to switch off which means it's the perfect pre-meditation practice.  Yoga is for everyone no matter your experience or ability!  We both love Caley Alyssa's 30 minute power flow vinyasa workout which you can find here.  

Self Help Books

We absolutely love reading, especially since there are so many incredible books out there that are offering advice on accessing the best version of you; reminding you how to tap into that inner warrior and crush any fears that might be stopping you from living the life you've always dreamed about.  Obviously we love Jen Sincero’s ‘You are a Badass at making Money'.  Another book that we’ve read recently and love is ‘The Universe Has Your Back’ by Gabrielle Bernstein.  Other high vibe books to add to your collection are 'Material Girl Mystic World' by Ruby Warrington and 'Daily Love' by Mastin Kipp.

Journaling

We're both huge fans of journaling and we recently wrote a blog post on the subject which you can read here. Some people like to keep a gratitude journal where they'll write three things they're grateful for each morning and night which can help them to adopt a more positive mindset.  Others use a diary to help set goals and prioritise their days.  Others choose to freestyle and write whatever they're feeling that day.  There really are no rules!  We believe it's great to get our feelings out in the open and onto the page, even if you feel silly at first remember your journal is for your eyes only. 

Affirmations 

Since we're on the subject of gaining more clarity, focus and strength, we should also mention that another way to achieve this is through affirmations!  Affirmations are positive statements, when repeated and focused on can help change negative thought patterns and help you focus on the good!

We share an affirmation or mantra on our Instagram page every Monday to lift your spirits and help you find the strength we all so desperately need on dreary Monday mornings! They are a reminder of how truly amazing you are and that you really do have the strength to achieve anything you put your mind to.  Affirmations are powerful and can change our moods in just a few seconds.  If you'd like to see some of the mantra's we've posted already then head to our Instagram here.
