My journey to become a Health Coach
Throughout my teenage and young adult years I yo-yoed between a very unhealthy vegetarian diet and processed meat eating diet, not to mention three years at university where I pretty much survived on cereal and pasta...as a result not surprisingly I felt like utter crap. It is my belief that the stress I had put myself through eating processed junk and not treating my body right manifested itself into bad IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). After receiving almost no advice from my doctor or the specialist I had seen in the hospital (except for the anti spasmodic meditation they had handed to me) I realised that I would have to seek out my own help and take my health into my own hands. Through the support of a naturopath I began to take my own health back. Making lifestyle changes around my eating habits saw my symptoms subside and I no longer had to endure bouts of seething pain in my stomach and awful constipation. As much as I felt empowered by my new diet (and by diet I mean nutrition lifestyle) I began to realise that many other things effected my IBS and health. Anxiety, stress and low mood also affected my IBS and this couldn't simply be 'cured' or ignored by just a healthy diet and supplements. This realisation led me to my current training at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, the largest nutrition school in the world.
I really wish I had had a Health Coach to support and educate me through my own health issues and let me tell you why! My training has made me realise that there are so many aspects of life that can affect your health. From your relationships, to your career, exercise and spirituality and much much more. I wish I had someone to guide me through my options and different areas of my life that I had no idea impacted my health and happiness!
As a Health Coach I am both a supportive mentor and wellness authority. Not only is it my passion to support clients to define their personal health and wellness goals but also achieve them by gaining a deeper understanding of how BOTH their food and lifestyle choices can have a lasting impact on their health and wellness.
